A medical team under a joint effort between LOGIC and White Fields Overseas
Evangelism arrived in Haiti yesterday (Thursday , January 28). They have set up
clinic today in Tabarre Christian Church and hope to see over 100 patients over
the next few days before they leave. This was generously funded by many sponsors
but especially we want to thank Curves International for the use of their
corporate jet to transport personnel and supplies.
Over $ 2000 in financial aid has been sent in to the country from LOGIC
Ministries. The elders at the church in Tabarre have established a listing and a
plan for those most desperately needing this aid and have begun distribution
accordingly. At first humanitarian and medical issues will be addressed.
Thank you to all who have so generously given and will continue to do so. Our
plans as of now are to begin quarterly trips into Haiti as soon as logistics can
well support this. We will oversee the disbursements of funds from a stateside
effort as we go along in this rebuilding effort. We realize that this is not
going to take place and be done with the first trip so our hopes are to have
ongoing funds to distribute for literally years to come. We already have spoken
with several and have the potential for some sizeable donations toward this
effort. Likely, Avenel will be in the states before too long and can contribute
to the hands on fund raising efforts. Pray for peace, comfort, and resources.
I am afraid that before long as search and rescue/recovery effort begin to wane
from the international community, that Haiti stands to be forgotten. In that
instance the natural order of things will be that on their own the Haitians will
rebuild a shanty right on the top of existing shanty rubble. This is not
acceptable to us. As we consider our part, we plan to make a difference and do
it right. We will keep you updated on all that is planned and going on.
On a different note, The LOGIC churches reported 28 baptisms this past weekend!
Praise The Lord! Our primary mission has and always will continue to be to
spread the saving grace of
Jesus Christ so that people can come to salvation. Please continue to pray for
the Lord’s Harvest in these efforts.
Thanks for your continued support and please feel free to forward this little
bit of news to any and all who may have and interest.

LOGIC’s Plan of Action for Haiti Relief -- CLICK HERE TO
>>>> DONATE
For over 15 years LOGIC Ministries, Inc. has worked in Haiti to bring the love
of Jesus Christ to people who have absolutely no hope in this world. The
heartbeat of our mission has always and will continue to be evangelism and
specifically growing the kingdom of God through the local church. In that
time seven churches, three schools, and a theological college have begun.
Overseen by our field director Avenel Clersaint, we are constantly amazed at
the breadth of the fulfillment of Christ’s promise: “If I be lifted up, I
will draw all men unto me”. God has literally drawn thousands of souls to
Himself through the presence of LOGIC Ministries in Haiti. All glory, honor,
and praise belong to Him.
Above all else, we will continue on this mission and trust God for His
harvest. And in the last week the whole world has seen yet another aspect of
our mission that we must undertake. We will do so with complete trust in the
grace and love of God and belief that even through the monumental disaster of
this earthquake God will bring glory unto Himself.
Obviously, the devastation in Haiti is truly beyond comprehension. The
international relief is still in the ramp up stages and my belief after
consulting with several folks in country is that these efforts will be heavy
for weeks if not months. We have no idea when the commercial airlines will
resume flight into Haiti. Travel in from the Dominican Republic is scarce at
best with the roads reportedly being worse than ever (imagine that).
After much prayer and local counsel, I would like to propose that LOGIC’s
relief efforts take two distinct and combined approaches. First as we gather
money we will plan to send this money to Avenel (under very heavy
accountability through the American leaders of LOGIC) in order to provide
immediate aid to those in the LOGIC churches most heavily affected by the
quake. I believe the priority of aid would be medical/physical (including
food), shelter, and then other. At this point there is no possible way to
even get money directly to them, but as soon as the avenue opens up, we will
begin this process. I believe that our greatest efforts on the LOGIC
Ministries level will be long term rebuilding and aid efforts. Right now the
best help is flowing through sources such as the Red Cross and others to
affect help in immediate and broad ways.
After things become steadier, I believe we will be able to travel there and
begin to help in the rebuilding of lives process which will be months, years,
even decades long.
In terms of mission size, we a relatively a small mission in the work in
Haiti, but we have the potential to have great affect in the lives of those we
know, love and are extremely concerned for. In a real way we are in a holding
pattern right at this moment, but soon enough it will open and we need to be
poised and ready to help. So let’s keep encouraging folks to give and when we
can make an impact we will quickly and effectively do so.
We need your help to fulfill this mission. Your gifts are tax deductible
(LOGIC Ministries, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 organization incorporated in
the state of North Carolina). Your sacred trust of your funds will be
overseen with tenacity and diligence as we continue to reach souls in the name
of Jesus. Thank you so very much for your continued support.
P.S. Everyone is ok after the early Wednesday 6.1 quake.

Here is an update on the latest news related to Avenel and Haiti. So here
goes:
First, as you know some of his family have become ill and they wish to evacuate
the island for purposes of respite. The idea being that as soon as possible
Avenel would go back in to continue the aid efforts – At which time some of us
(larger teams as prudent) would likely accompany him and begin our efforts in
earnest.
The first order of business was to find information related to entry in the US –
secretary of State type stuff, visas and legal documentation. Three of their
visas have expired and will have to be renewed. If you have seen the line
outside of the US Embassy it is literally more than a mile long to get papers to
travel. So we have set to work on task one.
Thanks to the fantastic help of my friends, we were put in touch with
Congressman Lynn Westmoreland’s office. He has established a specific “office”
related to the issues in Haiti. They staffer’s name is Andy and I had about a 35
minute conversation with him this afternoon. He ended up giving me his direct
number and his cell number with permission to contact him at any time. He was
most accommodating. I even invited him to go with us to Haiti and he said he
would. (I tell you this to tell you that God is watching over us). Anyways, here
is what he said. He has been in contact with the state department and as of now,
only US Citizens and “designated” people of Haitian Nationality are the ones
getting any paperwork attention. No “common” Haitian nationals are even being
allowed to file paperwork at this time. “Designated “ likely means rich,
diplomatic, influential, or critically ill. So without the paperwork Avenel
cannot come yet. But soon (relative term) they will open this window wider –
first to the orphans already in process of being adopted and finally to
Nationals. The Nationals with existing paperwork and valid passports/visas will
of course receive first consideration. All of this was from the Secretary of
State’s office. Supposedly, at some point an ad hoc office (likely in Ft Pierce,
Florida) will be set up just to deal with Haiti – maybe as soon as two weeks.
Also they said do not expect flights commercially to resume until the Nationals
are able to be processed and maybe not even then.
Andy went further and said that at the time for Avenel and family to do
paperwork, he believes he can be of assistance. He will continue to work daily
on this and others’ issues and he seemed to think the fact that they have become
ill is a positive thing. (Incidentally, I do not know exactly what the scope or
extent of the illness is – I will let you know as soon as I hear).
Thanks so much to my friends Joe and Bettye, we would not have had this
connection without them. The situation for the moment is to wait though until
the door opens for travel.
Banks are still not open for business – Avenel said you cannot buy anything
anyway! But soon we can send money for initial aid.
The next hurdle to cross is the transportation issue. It is somewhat of a moot
point until the legal paperwork is in place but none-the-less we are looking
into this. We have options! None of them super, but options none the less. They
range from flying into Dominican Republic and joining a UN Convoy over to
Port-au-Prince all the way to a private corporate jet – we really are on their
radar for the potential of 5 seats when they come back out. It’s a good story.
You cannot go into Haiti to bring someone out unless you carry relief in. There
is a group out of Buckhead that has a great amount of relief supplies collected
and are negotiating with the corporation (who flies out of Peachtree City) to
carry their stuff. Through a connection we are on their list. This is a good
possibility if the corporation goes through it (legals and liabilities, etc are
being discussed). AND just tonight I was approached by a church member who was
asked by a friend how a pharmaceutical company might be able to get a lot (BIG
amount) of discontinued (not out of date just discontinued) items into Haiti. I
told them LOGIC would be glad to be the non-profit to handle the donation and my
thinking is we could go along with the Buckhead group and this may heighten our
chances. So all that being said – Pray like Crazy that God will continue to open
doors yet. None of this is sure and it is still in the premature planning
stages, but in Haitian time we are really on a good schedule J.
By the way – anything in these efforts where you see a better way or a way to
chime in and climb on board, do so!!!! Let us know this is a mutual effort.
Finally, we have received news tonight. First is some great news. We have
already received donations over $12,000 toward our efforts – PRAISE THE LORD!
And thank you for all your work and help. Special thanks to 7 Hills Church
congregation in northern Kentucky. They have been extremely generous.
The second bit of news is from Avenel’s own hand. His report
is below.
Thanks for all you do. Please continue to pray and as things come together I
will do my best to keep you posted. Also know that things are happening fast and
furiously (believe it or not) and so when the word Go comes down we are making
plans to be ready to do it!
Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to forward this along to
anyone that you think may like to see it!
Avenel's report:
hey my brothers and sisters
I could not send a report because there was no way for me to use my generator. I
was a little bit scared of using it.
This morning again, we felt an earthquake of the magnitude of 6.2> I have not
heard any damage besides what we had last Tuesday.
on my side, I should report that I was home when we were ready to have a meeting
with the education committee for Sunday school. We felt a strange shake and the
house was about to come down on us. it was just a miracle that the house stood.
But I believe that the house ( a rental) has a big crack in the foundation.
The (rental) building where the school is cracked also. I do not want to use
this building anymore for the school.
1. we need to finish the first floor of the new building for the school.
2. I should send my family to the States for a while perhaps some teams come to
build me a new house for my family before they come back to Haiti.
3. We should find sponsors for the kids both in Mirebalais and Tabarre.
4. I will need relief funds for some of the leaders and some people of the
church.
5. we will need more teams to come for some repairs for people of the church
6. we have the news that we lost five people from the church and one at the
school of Tabarre.
I will give you more information as soon as possible. Please continue to pray
for Haiti
Avenel
We have some more information from Haiti. Relief work at the Tabbarre
Church and school is proceeding. Cell phone service is restoring,
but is very spotty. We have received a few calls and text messages
reporting on the situation. Yesterday I was on instant messenger for a few
hours, but that too was intermittent and the messages took over 5 minutes to
arrive. In fact, they had earth quakes while I was talking with them!!
The quake count is now over 50!
The church is being used as a housing center for those displaced from
their homes. We are trying to connect some med students from the Dominican
Republic with Avenel to enhance any medical care that can be offered.
Coordinating any work is still next to impossible. The banking and finance
system in the country is damaged and we cannot even wire any money yet.
Since the quake, there have been over 50 after shocks, all magnitude 4.4 and
above. Every 2-3 hours there is another quake, forcing people to live
outdoors in extreme fear. Jacob, a friend and member of the Tabbarre
Church, reports his house is damaged and unlivable, but is still standing and
protecting his personal belongings. Jacob, like everyone else, is living
outside, mostly in public areas like a park. They have no tents or roof
over their head. Avenel is also living outside. Continual after
shocks make them fear their home will still crumble. After the dead are
pulled from the rubble, they are placed out on the street for pickup. So
far there has been no pickup and the dead are piling up at an alarming rate.
In the mountains, about 40 miles away in Mirebalis, people are arriving in mass
to escape PAP. People are arriving with no place to go and are living on
the street. With no water or food, the epidemic is quickly spreading to
the areas relatively untouched by the quake.

Dan spoke with Avenel – finally. Jacob is okay. Most of the
church is okay. The house and the church building are still standing but other
structures around them are demolished – God’s Grace!!
Nothing is working. He cannot travel except very locally and that due to road
conditions. Western Union is not even working. He will inform us when money can
be sent.
10 youth from the church were killed when their school collapsed, these are the
only known dead from the Tabarre church so far.
He will send us reports in his own hand when the first availability comes up.
He said of course money will be needed. The church has become a shelter and will
be open for a staging area if needed.
We are receiving some text messages from Avenel. Still difficult to get
too much information because each text takes over an hour to arrive.
Avenel and his family are safe! He got a quick message to his brother
and there are no other details. We have no additional news about the
church and school buildings. We do have word that the situation in
Mirebalais is ok, with only minor building damage. More
information will be posted here as we get it.
Now more than ever, funds are needed to rebuild the communities and help
those effected. Please click the DONATE
