Re: Ministry Update from Haiti Field Directors Avenel and Myrlene Clersaint

Personal news

This past year was a blessing for the Clersaint's Family. We were blessed in more than one way. God gives all a blessed ministry, with some good friends to help us in the work of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Last May, Myrlene graduated with a degree in Christian Education from Christianville College. She spent four full years studying, at the same time she was taking care of the family. She did an excellent job. I did not even think she would take such a risk to do all of this. Besides all, she is pregnant now with our third child and is due sometime about May or June 2004. I praise the name of my Lord for such a wonderful wife and mother of my children. Talking about children, Ralph is in 5th grade now at Christianville academy and Angie is 5 in her last year of kindergarten.

Avenel is doing some crazy things for the Lord, such as planting new congregations and raising leadership to take care of them. All the ministries such as teaching, preaching, doing leadership development are all doing great. Thanks to all my supporters in Haiti and in the United States for their prayers and their financial support.

Church news

The ministry of planting churches is doing really well. With the support of those that I send to Christianville College, we are evangelizing Mirebalais in a strategic way. The strategy we are using is to grow the church in different locations inside the same town of Mirebalais, at the same time. We have planted two other congregations in a radius of five miles and we are starting to see the results of it. The last one, which is Mirebalais Christian Church (Latheme) is established with normal service on Sunday morning and Sunday nights. They have other services on Wednesday and Friday every week. It has grown now to about 50 people in about six months. We have brother Sadrack who is leading it under the supervision of Saint Saint Vilsaint and Rodney Decamp, two sponsored young men at Christianville College.

The central church of Mirebalais is still doing fine and growing. We have different evangelism program that is going on. Last November 2003, we had a series of crusades in different areas of Mirebalais. During one of these meetings, we gather about 800 people in this special time of worship and the spread of the word of God. This January, 18-23 we had a team of Campus for Christ who went to Mirebalais and they projected the JESUS FILM during five consecutive nights. We estimate that we gathered about 1500 total for these five nights of projection. Pray that God will make it possible for us to do more activities like that and also that people who are touched by this projection may give a positive reaction (they will give their life Christ).

Let's talk about the fourth church in Port-au-Prince: Tabarre Christian Church. This church is a phenomenon. Now we are running about 550 people every Sunday. The story behind this church is that I gave my own house and land that they could start the church. Now six years later, we see the exceeding blessings of Christ upon that church in many ways. One way we see the blessing is that this past two months the members of the church decided to contribute their own money to enlarge the church. Believe it or not they have contributed so far $1750 U.S. Dollars for that activities. So we have started with the enlargement of Tabarre Christian Church being proud of the efforts of indigenous members. Pray for us because on February 8th we will have a big fellowship program. We will ordain three brothers to the ministry officially: Christophe Lima will be the first Elder, Wilgo Gabriel will become the pastor of Evangelism and small groups, Phanuel Olutrin will be a deacon. Please pray that God will use his church for his glory and the work of the kingdom.

The school

The school of Mirebalais is doing fine, except we do not have sponsors yet to allow us to do what we would like to do with the kids. We still need over 200 sponsors. Whenever we have enough sponsors, we will have a feeding program every day. Now we are doing it occasionally when we have some money. Sponsorship is $15 per month per child. Saint Saint Vilsaint who is in his second year in Christianville College will become Principal assistant to Myrlene. He has started to work part time on weekends and on Mondays with the kids parents and administration of the school. Saint Saint is also in charge of Sunday school at the church of Mirebalais. He is doing a fine Job. Pray for the school and for the staff. We still need some teams to come help us build the school. We have no group line up for 2004.

Two new guys at Christianville College

This past September, Christianville College accepted two students from Mirebalais Christian church. Their names: Franztes Merisme in Christian Education and Jeanson Janvier in Theology. We another opportunity to have more work done in the future. Pray that God will use them while they are receiving a good education for the future of the kingdom of God. Franztes is an excellent musician and is in charge of singing choirs in Mirebalais (we have about 16 choirs right now). Jeanson is being trained with a minor in youth and young adults ministry. He will be in charge of Young adults and youth in Mirebalais. The college education of these 2 men can be sponsored for a small annual contribution of $450 each.

Prayer for Haiti

Most of you are familiar with the problem of Haiti. Please pray that God will intervene directly to heal this country. Now most of our schools are closed, we do not know when we can reopen their doors. Even Christianville College is closed for three weeks. Pray that God will · soften the heart of our leaders, · use our church leaders to go before the Lord for forgiveness and vision · use our nation to bring glory to Him

God Bless you all, Avenel and Myrlene Clersaint

A brief message from the stateside leadership

Wow, after reading of the blessings on the church and leadership in Haiti, I almost hate to say anything else!! The stateside leadership feels truly blessed and honored to be involved in assisting Avenel in this ministry. It is truly a gift to us.

In the coming year of 2004, LOGIC Ministries will undergo some changes here in the USA. The first change is in the core leadership, which will be as follows:

Dan Roberts, President , Senior Pastor, Peace Christian Church, High Point, NC, dan@LOGICministries.org

Tom Barron, Vice President and Associate Pastor, Peace Christian Church, High Point NC , tom@LOGICministries.org

Chuck Catanese, Treasurer/Secretary, Independence, KY, chuck@LOGICministries.org

Avenel Clersaint, MDiv, Field Director, Senior Pastor, Mirebalais Christian Church, avenel@LOGICministries.org

Myrlene Clersaint, BEd, Field Education Director, Myrlene@LOGICministries.org

We are also in the process of electing some new directors, which will be announced in the months to come.

The second change will be new ways to communicate to the ministry supporters, children sponsors and prayer partners. We will strive to have more frequent communications through quarterly newsletters. These will now be produced in the states to save much time and money. We will also begin to use the Web to post news, articles, prayer requests, ministry needs, ministry praises, student sponsor information and many pictures of the fruit of the gospel in Haiti. The web site will be www.logicministries.org. Web site development has just started, so there is not much there yet. Please look at this web address every so often to see our progress! We also have an email NEWS GROUP at groups.yahoo.com/group/logicministries. Here you can read all newsletters, look at the ministry calendar of events and best yet…….you can signup to be a newsgroup member and receive all the ministry news electronically via email. If you are a regular email user at home, please signup for this email news group as it will save the ministry money on mailings. To signup, send an email to: news@LOGICministries.org and say "sign me up!!".

I am excited for 2004, for the ministry and what God will do with me personally. On behalf of Avenel, Myrlene and leadership, I would like to thanks each any every one of you for your help. It is the "whole" body of Christ that makes this all possible. All of us, working in unity, to fulfill the Great Commission. Thanks again!

Grace and Peace,

Chuck Catanese, Secretary and Treasurer chuck@LOGICministries.org 859-356-1414
